Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, patient-centered care within the Observation Unit while working under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
In this role, you'll assist with daily patient care, monitor patient needs, provide comfort and support, and help ensure a safe and positive patient experience. Observation Unit CNAs care for patients with a wide variety of medical conditions requiring short-term monitoring and treatment, making every shift engaging and rewarding.
When assigned as the Unit Clerk, you'll also support the nursing team through clerical responsibilities, patient communication, and coordination of information that helps the unit operate efficiently.
What You'll Do
Direct Patient Care
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility
- Monitor and document vital signs, intake and output, and patient observations
- Assist with ambulation, repositioning, transfers, and patient safety measures
- Respond promptly to patient requests and call lights
- Provide compassionate emotional support to patients and families
Unit Support
- Assist nurses with patient care procedures and daily workflow
- Prepare patient rooms and maintain a clean, organized care environment
- Stock supplies and ensure equipment is readily available
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
Unit Clerk Responsibilities (When Assigned)
- Perform clerical and receptionist duties for the Observation Unit
- Facilitate communication between nursing staff, providers, ancillary departments, and patients
- Enter and process computerized patient information accurately
- Answer phones and assist visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the unit

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Current Idaho Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License required
- Previous CNA or healthcare experience preferred
- Current BLS certification preferred
- Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to safely assist with lifting, transferring, and positioning patients
