Nurse Practitioner (PRN) - Bay Minette, AL.

 

***PRN – as needed- at minimum one weekend a month. Shifts could be 8-12 hour shifts based on needs ***

 

Horizon Health Corporation is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (PRN) for an inpatient geriatric psychiatric program in Bay Minette, AL. This unit is a 15 beds mental health program. 

Under the general supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner (PRN) will provide clinical services to the behavioral health program and is primarily responsible for diagnosing and treating patients; and providing continuing education to patients and their families according to approved protocols.  The NP will assess the patients by examining medical history, physical exams and behavioral health evaluations; and ordering or performing diagnostic tests, and within the bounds of scope of practice as delineated by both federal and state regulations/guidelines. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete patient diagnoses, treatment, education and referrals in accordance with Hospital policies
  • Perform treatment planning and intervention
  • Medication orders and reconciliation
  • Work with the treatment team in admitting and discharging patients to and from the Program
  • Conduct physical exams of the patient during admission and attend to basic medical needs/issues; work with hospital specialists to manage more complicated medical conditions
  • Perform admission work-ups within twenty-four (24) hours of admissions and provide appropriate documentation as may be defined by Hospital policies
  • Conduct rounds on patients
  • Perform as part of the treatment team in planning, coordinating and implementing nursing care activities for patients
  • Ensure optimal patient care Assist Program leadership in assessing, creating and implementing advanced practice provider procedures, or ensuring existing procedures meet federal and state regulations and guidelines for Nurse Practitioner scope of practice
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree required
  • 5 to 8 years of related worked work experience required.
  • CCNE or ACEN accreditation required
  • State Advance Practice License required.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency license preferred.
  • DNP preferred.
  • PMHNP preferred.
  • Must Not be a Sanctioned Provider
  • Behavioral Health Experience
  • CPR Course Completion
  • Ability to obtain appropriate credentials and privileges required to provide services to the hospital
  • Proficient in applicable Software Applications
  • Utilizing the person as a whole wellness approach
  • Ability to manage anger, fear, hostility and violence of others appropriately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
