How You’ll Support Our Pediatric Team
As a Pediatric Medical Assistant, your primary responsibilities include:
- Preparing patients for visits by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and screenings.
- Assisting pediatric providers during examinations and procedures.
- Administering childhood immunizations, medications, and injections.
- Performing vision (Snellen) and hearing screenings.
- Educating parents on vaccines, preventive care, medications, and treatment plans.
- Reviewing and interpreting immunization records while supporting CAIR and VFC guidelines.
- Coordinating referrals, follow-up appointments, and patient care.
- Maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
- Preparing laboratory specimens and maintaining exam rooms.
- Supporting patient flow by assisting with discharge, scheduling, and other clinical operations.
- Working collaboratively across all pediatric roles, including vaccines, discharge, and float assignments.
- Helping create a welcoming, efficient, and family-centered environment.
- High school graduate or equivalency.
- Must have completed a Medical Assistant program.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish language skills
- Valid CPR Certification or willing to complete a course prior to hire.
- Minimum one year experience as a medical assistant in an outpatient clinic.
- Certification as a medical assistant in the State of California.
- Certification through the California Family Health Council (CFHC) Basic Health Worker course, recommended.
