We are Looking for:

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and experienced Medical Assistant to join our Allergy Clinic. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by supporting physicians and clinical staff in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered allergy and immunology services. 

Responsibilities:

  • Room patients and prepare them for examination. 
  • Obtain and document patient history, chief complaint, allergies, medication list, and vital signs. 
  • Prepare patient charts in advance of appointments and verify insurance benefits and referrals. 
  • Assist physicians during allergy evaluations, follow-up visits, skin testing, patch testing, immunotherapy, and other in-office procedures. 
  • Administer allergy immunotherapy injections and monitor patients for adverse reactions in accordance with clinic protocols (as permitted by state regulations and clinic policy). 
  • Educate patients on allergy testing, immunotherapy schedules, medications, environmental controls, and physician treatment plans. 
  • Refill medications as directed by the physician and obtain prior authorizations for medications when required. 
  • Obtain insurance authorizations for allergy testing, procedures, imaging, referrals, and specialty medications. 
  • Ensure referrals and insurance authorizations are current and documented prior to patient appointments. 
  • Document patient communications, return phone calls, and voicemail messages accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). 
  • Scan and upload patient records, test results, and other clinical documentation into the EMR. 
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, allergy testing, immunotherapy visits, and referrals as directed by the provider. 
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms and treatment areas before clinic, between patients, and at the end of each day. 
  • Process and distribute incoming faxes and clinical documents to the appropriate team members. 
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention, safety, and OSHA standards.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred. 
  • Minimum of 2 year of Medical Assistant experience in an allergy or ENT clinic preferred. 
  • Experience with allergy skin testing and immunotherapy injections is highly preferred. 
  • Knowledge of EMR systems and medical terminology. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. 
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while providing exceptional patient care. 
  • Current BLS certification preferred.
