Responsibilities

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) render direct patient care to an assigned group of patients, in accordance with the philosophy, policies and procedures of Northside Hospital.  LPNs participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. LPNs work under the direction of the Registered Nurse in an assigned clinical area. 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
  • Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
  •  

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

     

  • One (1) year of experience as an LPN.
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications may be preferred in specific units.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Essential Job Function: Assists healthcare professionals to deliver patient care by preparing examination rooms, obtaining vital signs, documenting medical histories, and updating patient records. Provides patient education and support by explaining treatment plans, medications, and post-care instructions, addressing any questions or concerns. Supports medical professionals during appointments and clinic visits, providing crucial patient history information to best treat the patient. Performs other duties as assigned.
