Job Summary

Summary
The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Essential Functions
-Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.

-Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.

-Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.

-Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.

-Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.

-Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.

-Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.

-Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.

Schedule: 4 days/week determined based on clinic needs

Monday - Friday. 8 hour shifts vary between 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Specialty: OB/GYN Positions in this function performs a variety of duties involving clinical and administrative patient care while adhering to the standards of the practice. Assist in the examination and treatment of patients by taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressures, temperatures, height, weight, etc. Assist physician and others with simple to moderate clinical/diagnostic procedures such as urine cultures, pregnancy tests, throat cultures, etc. Prepare treatment rooms. Perform a variety of clerical functions to support office functions. Perform related duties to facilitate the efficient utilization of computer-based information. This position performs a full range of medical support services while ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. Primary Responsibilities: Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment & instruments Room patients, obtain health history and check vital signs Document patient care using electronic medical record software Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis and handle patient specimen samples Administer medications and perform injections/immunizations Assist providers with minor, in-office procedures and perform point-of-care testing You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: Tech nical certification or 1+ years of experience performing the critical skills of a Medical Assistant after on-the-job training OR current enrollment in an accredited Medical Assistant program OR EMT certification Experience working as a Medical Assistant or EMT Preferred Qualifications: Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, RMA and CMAC) Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR) Certification or completed within 90 days of date of hire Experience with electronic medical records software (EPIC) Experience performing medical back-office tasks including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis and administering medications Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
