What You’ll Do

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across Intermediate and Stepdown units
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and actively participate in patient rounds
  • Manage patient assignments with ratios typically ranging from 1:3 to 1:6, based on acuity
  • Utilize critical thinking to adapt care plans across different clinical settings
  • Support a care environment staffed with Charge Nurses, Nursing Care Assistants, and Health Unit Coordinators

As a Clinical Nurse, you will:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care using the nursing process
  • Delegate and supervise care team members appropriately
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor to peers and learners
  • Participate in quality improvement and professional development initiatives

Work Schedule

  • Shifts: Days (7A–7P), Nights (7P–7A), or rotating
  • Schedule Options:
    • Three 12-hour shifts/week, OR
    • Alternating 3 shifts one week / 2 shifts the next
  • Weekend Rotation: One Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday per 4-week schedule
  • Holidays: One major and one minor holiday for both winter and summer seasons

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited ADN, Diploma, or BSN program
  • Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (Intermediate/Stepdown or acute care preferred)

Note: RNs without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 2 years of hire and complete it within 7 years.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state license
  • BLS required
  • ACLS, NIH, CPI preferred

Relocation Assistance (based on eligibility) Clinical Nurse II- Cardiology of Raleigh Job Location: Cardiology of Raleigh 3320 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC Job Summary: We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE II at Duke Cardiology of Raleigh , located in Raleigh, NC to serve as a triage nurse and as an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients. JOB DUTIES: Manage nurse line for telephone triage with patients, document encounter, follow protocols established by clinic leadership and inform provider as indicated. Monitor and address all triage related in basket tasks including Mychart patient advice, cardiac clearance forms and collaborate with other internal and external patient’s care team members. Evaluate/Assess/Educate patient prior to procedures. Alert MD for necessary modifications prior to Cardiac ultrasound procedures. Primary nurse in cardiac diagnostic testing (CDU). Start IV’s prior to procedures – calculate dose, prepare & titrate infusion & monitor patient. Administer Dobutamine, Definity and saline according to orders. Monitor patients during Nuclear Stress testing and echos as needed. Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration. Assist with IV Lasix therapy as needed. Handle prescription refills according to protocols. Managing and performing PT/INR’s and providing Warfarin education. Maintains department logs, educational materials and reports as required for accreditation and JCAHO (medications, equipment, crash cart). Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information and other clinical information as indicated based on patients assessment and clinic staffing needs. Backup coverage for procedure triage & scheduling as needed. Clinical resource for all Unlicensed Assistive Personnel. Participates in performance improvement projects and/or acts as a liaison in various Clinic related projects. Assist in training new staff for cross-coverage & educational purposes. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Job Eligibility Requirements: Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification. Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. BLS required. Cardiology experience preferred Must be present on site for 8 hour shifts during standard business hours. Experience in Triage preferred. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to push/pull 250 lbs. Must be able to carry 25 lbs. Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
