Job Summary:

The ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice are exemplified within this Job Description.  The Nurse is responsible for utilizing the Nursing Process to provide nursing care for the patient throughout their life span. The Charge RN acts as a front line supervisor and clinical resource for the department. Assists with the development of current and future goals for the clinic. Manages the resources to meet budgetary clinical goals and objectives. Is responsible for nursing staff schedule and maintaining appropriate staffing levels to maximize efficiency. Reviews staffing with direct caregivers to offer suggestions/interventions to enhance coverage, efficiency and quality care. Develops, implements, and updates department specific policies, procedures, and competencies related to patient care. Communicates frequently with the staff and reports feedback in a timely fashion to the manager, or others as appropriate. Maintains a high level of clinical competency and projects high standards of service expectations for personnel within the unit. Provides direct patient care as needed. Creates and fosters a positive environment for staff between clinics, hospital departments, physician and others. Handles crisis situations and unanticipated events in a professional manner.
