Position Details:

Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required. You may be asked to provide proof of education.
LicensureNon-licensed/certified candidates may be considered.
ExperienceNon-24-Hour Opportunity locations May consider non-certified candidates with applicable surgical technologist experience. 24-Hour-Opportunity locations May consider non-experienced perioperative candidates.

CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) required.
Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
Preferred Education: Successful completion of a Postsecondary certificate or associate degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program.
Preferred Licensure - Certification: Surgical Technology Certification preferred.

As an OB Surgical Technologist (CST), you will play a vital role in supporting labor and delivery procedures, including cesarean sections, while helping ensure a safe, efficient, and positive patient experience. Position Details: Position Overview The OB Surgical Technologist maintains professional accountability and provides technical support for patient care throughout the obstetrical experience. Working under the direction of nursing and medical staff, this role performs a wide variety of patient care, clerical support, and surgical assistance duties. Team members collaborate closely to support unit goals while maintaining Mercy's mission, values, service standards, and commitment to patient-centered care. This position requires the ability to remain calm and effective during obstetrical emergencies, participate as an essential member of the labor and delivery team, and provide support to childbearing, postpartum, newborn, and pediatric patients as assigned. Key Responsibilities Surgical & Clinical Support Prepare operating and delivery rooms using sterile surgical techniques. Prepare patients for labor and delivery procedures, including cesarean sections. Function as a Surgical Technologist, assisting physicians during procedures as directed. Perform first or second scrub duties within the sterile field. Maintain, clean, and process sterile instrumentation according to hospital policy. Adhere to and promote infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards. Patient Care & Unit Support Assist nursing staff in providing supportive care and activities of daily living (ADLs) for newborns, obstetrical, postpartum, and pediatric patients. Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care and unit operations. Respond effectively during obstetrical emergencies as part of the care team. Support patient flow, room turnover, and efficient unit operations.
