The Knight Cancer Institute Center for Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) outpatient clinic provides care for multiple different types of hematologic malignancies including Lymphomas, Leukemias and Multiple Myeloma.

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider who will provide clinical management of adult ambulatory patients with multiple myeloma to join our dedicated Myeloma Program.

Function/Duties of Position

Position Summary

OHSU classification: Clinical Associate APP, represented by the Oregon Nurses Association & Advance Practice United, subject to the active collective bargaining agreement.

This Clinical Associate-APP provides care in conjunction with a team comprised of physicians, APPs, RN coordinators, and other allied health professionals. APPs may practice both independently or in a shared-care model with physicians, as determined by the needs of the team. Additionally, this APP will perform procedures and may intermittently provide oversight to the infusion unit.  

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and demonstrate clinical knowledge and oncologic experience to support a complex patient population.

The Clinical Associate-APP delivers care aligned with a defined scope of practice in Outpatient Adult Medical Oncology, with work expectations operationalized through departmental workflows, productivity standards, and performance expectations consistent with the collective bargaining agreement and institutional policies.

This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations, inclusive of daytime coverage, aligned with the clinical coverage model and patient care needs of the service. A fixed schedule will be determined at the time of hire and may include evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • APP will manage their own template of patients each day, including individuals undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, research, and long-term follow-up care. Shifts may include triage, consults, pre-treatment visits, urgent visits, and follow up.
  • Work collaboratively with clinic management on process improvement projects
  • Provide education to colleagues, staff and students
  • May intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues
  • Adhere to institutional clinical pathways, guidelines, and policies
  • After appropriate proctoring, APPs will independently perform procedures. Procedures include but are not limited to:
    • Bone Marrow Biopsy and Aspiration
    • Lumbar Puncture
    • IT chemotherapy
    • Omaya
    • Skin Biopsy
General Responsibilities

All APPs are expected to maintain professional standards in all aspects of role performance, including consistent participation in unit and departmental meetings, routine monitoring and timely response to organizational communications (e.g., email), and adherence to established deadlines for institutional and departmental requirements.

Experience

Required Qualifications

Minimum Of 2 Years APP Experience In Oncology

Completion of an APP Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology may substitute for two years of the required experience.

Education

Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing in a recognized APRN specialty ( Practitioner),

Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies from an accredited program.

Registrations, Certifications And/or Licenses

  • Current RN and APRN licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing
  • Licensure with Washington Board of Nursing (within 90 days of start date)
  • Current national certification in the area of specialization
  • Certification as indicated for the position
  • DEA Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current BLS or ACLS
  • Experience working with a multiple myeloma patient population
  • Experience working with clinical trials and experimental therapeutics
  • Experience with EPIC and Beacon
  • Hematology/Oncology certification
  • Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning in complex hematologic/oncologic malignancies and cellular therapy patients
  • Ability to recognize and manage oncologic, chemotherapy, biotherapy management, and cellular therapy-related complications), including monitoring and toxicity management
  • Strong clinical judgment and timely escalation of care for acutely ill and immunocompromised patients
  • Proficiency performing necessary procedures (e.g. bone marrow biopsies and aspirates, lumbar punctures, administration of chemotherapy
  • Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, including complex care discussions and transitions of care
  • Ability to collaborate across specialties (e.g., oncology, infectious disease, critical care, pharmacy, case management) to coordinate comprehensive care
  • Proficiency in EHR documentation, order entry, and utilization of oncology-specific treatment plans and pathways
  • Ability to educate patients, families, and learners on complex disease processes, treatments, and supportive care needs
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards related to high-risk therapies and immunocompromised populations
  • Demonstrated adaptability in managing evolving therapies, protocols, and clinical workflows in cellular therapy and transplant care
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, regulatory standards (e.g., FACT, CoC), and continuous professional development
  • Commitment to carry out job responsibilities in an effective, ethical, and professional manner

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Specialist

Overview Position Overview Legacy Health offers an exciting growth opportunity to join a well-established team of collaborative and energetic Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs). This role provides the opportunity to practice across both Level III and Level IV NICU settings within the Legacy system. NNPs are integral to delivery attendance and the medical management of high-risk neonates and infants, including daily rounding on NNP service patients. In addition to clinical care, the role includes telemedicine resuscitation coverage for Legacy Level I nursery sites and opportunities to contribute to non-clinical initiatives that support the highest standards of care for NICU patients and their families. Level IV NICU – Randall Children’s Hospital The Level IV, 45-bed NICU is located within Randall Children’s Hospital, a freestanding, nine-story pediatric facility. This unit provides comprehensive care supported by a full range of pediatric subspecialties, including cardiac and neurosurgical services, genetics, and ECMO. Care is delivered within a family-integrated model, supported by a dedicated pediatric transport team. Notably, this role does not require transport responsibilities. Level III NICU – Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center The Level III, 22-bed NICU at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is a growing unit actively expanding its NNP team. Scheduling is flexible and evolving, with 12-, 16-, and 24-hour shift options available to support work-life balance and team coverage. Scheduling & Practice Model This position is based in the Portland/Vancouver area and requires dual licensure in Oregon and Washington. NNPs rotate between both NICU sites, with frequency tailored to individual preferences while ensuring 24/7 coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays. A well-established self-scheduling model and structured holiday tracks contribute to provider satisfaction and balance. Discharge Planning: The entire NICU team works to provide an integrated family care experience to enable families to care for their high-risk infants within the NICU setting and beyond. The NICU values input from all members of the team including dedicated neonatal RT’s, consultants from dietary, OT/PT, lactation, as well as the core nursing, medical and leadership staff. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as an NICU Staff Nurse, Level III preferred. Licensure Current applicable state RN license required.
