Job Description

Responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Monitors patients, administers medications, keeps records, consults with healthcare providers, educates patients and more.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Maintains accurate, complete health care records and reports.
  • Administers medications to patients and monitors them for side effects and reactions.
  • Prescribes assistive medical devices and related treatments.
  • Monitors, reports, and records symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
  • Assesses, implements, plans, or evaluates patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members.
  • Records patient vital signs and medical information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification.
  • Clinical nursing experience


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date.
  • 1+ year of experience in Nursing or relevant area.
  • ACLS certification.

Checks policy and procedures on proper handling of sharps. INDIRECT PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES Participates in interdisciplinary patient care rounds by presenting findings on patients. Applies principles of infection control and safety. Assists in the orientation of new personnel. Provides clinical supervision of LPNs, Certified Nursing Assistant, Ward Clerks and other ancillary staff. Relieves the Nurse Manager/ Clinical Director as required. Assists in data collection and analysis of Quality Assurance/CQI monitors; participates in implementation of follow up action. Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy. Participates actively on Quality Improvement committees as assigned. Assists other personnel as needed. Keeps up to date with current trends pertinent to area of assignment. Participates in continuing education activities; attends mandatory scheduled in-service programs; shares information gained at conferences with colleagues. Responds to hospital codes (Code 9, Code Blue, Nurse Control, etc., as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization. Attends monthly unit meetings. Position Qualifications: Current NJ licensure as RN required. BLS & IV certification required. One-year medical surgical experience preferred. Clinical nursing skills for a new graduate RN. Good oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
