We're seeking a FT Registered Nurse (RN) to work in our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Program (PRTF) for adolescent females and males at our West Chester, PA location. Our programs provide clinical treatment, educational instruction and behavioral intervention services to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders.

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing with a B.S.N., Diploma or A.D. Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

EXPERIENCE: One year of post-education nursing experience preferred. Candidates should have experience with individuals with cognitive and/or behavioral challenges or medically complex conditions. Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms (Radar, Pro-Filer, and/or other internal and external software applications pertinent to the position). Strong organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.

Valid driver's license must be maintained.

A Brief Overview This RN position is Full Time- 36 hours a week. It requires 12 months of previous RN work experience. It is Day/Night rotating, 12 hour shifts, every third weekend. This Surgical Unit is 1 of 2 inpatient surgical units at CHOP. 4 East is a 22-bed unit comprised of seven different surgical services. The multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to a variety of medically complex children with ages ranging from infant to adolescent. Common diagnoses/surgical procedures include appendectomies, posterior spinal fusions, hernia repairs, and complex urologic procedures. Our nurses are trained to care for our trauma population, as well as patients requiring chest tubes, wound vacs, tracheostomies, and central venous catheters. The Infant Transitional Care Unit population accounts for 10 of the 22 beds. This population consists of post-surgical infants that have recently transferred out of the NICU. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care. Care is delivered through RN leadership for patient care within the framework of family-centered care. The Clinical Nurse adheres to the organizational and nursing department mission, vision, and values. Clinical Nurses practice in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics; the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice; practice standards of applicable specialty nursing organizations; and CHOP developed standards of nursing practice. A Brief Overview The cardiac catheterization lab is a highly specialized, innovative unit where nurses and techs are part of a team that provides care for diagnostic, interventional, lymphatic, and electrophysiology procedural patients. The lab participates in several frontier programs, including the lymphatic and valve programs and is on the leading edge of breakthrough treatments. This is a full-time position with on-call hours required. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area.
