Ark Healthcare and Rehabilitation at Branford Hills remains one of the Connecticut shoreline's 190-bed premier leaders in short term rehabilitation and long term care.  

The Director of Nursing has the overall accountability for providing leadership, direction, and administration of operations associated with direct patient care, clinical education and development, and continuous improvement of nursing services and staff to meet patients/residents and their families' needs and expectations.

The Director of Nursing:

  • Maintains a working knowledge of current clinical practice and regulatory requirements 

  • Implements, evaluates and develops an effective nursing practice model to meet the needs of the patients

  • Organizes and leads effective clinical meetings, rounds, shift to shift communication to assure effective patient outcomes

  • Fosters professional relationships with the community, surveyors, payors, and referral sources

  • Determines the staffing needs of the Nursing department to meet the nursing needs of the patients

  • Implements the QAPI process to assure quality, safety, and efficiency in clinical outcomes

  • Collaborates and coordinates with other departments to provide timely effective care consistent with individual needs, choices, and preferences

  • Reviews and evaluate the performance of nursing staff as well as counsels staff accordingly to established company personnel policy

  • Creates partnership between the medical staff and the department of nursing

  • Participates in Utilization Management, At Risk, QI, etc. as needed

  • Complies with and promotes adherance to legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to Compliance and Ethics, HIPAA, Standard/Code of Conduct

  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting and responses to compliance-related issues and monitors the implementation of corrective action plans

  • Ensures nursing staff are trained in infection control procedures to protect staff, patients, and families

Director of Nursing candidate will possess:

  • Degree from accredited school of nursing, college, or university with current unencumbered State of CT RN License

  • Current CPR/BLS Certification

  • Strong interpersonal skills
