We are hiring Graduate Nurses at Worcester Rehabilitation & Health Care Center who are ready to start their nursing career!

Shift openings include 7a-3p, 3p-11p, and 11p-7a with weekly pay! Hourly rate ranges from $35 to $40 for LPNs and $42 to $47 for RNs, depending on the shift.

Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, graduate nurses can begin providing care to residents while they wait to take their NCLEX.

Education:

Must have graduated from a Massachusetts board-approved nursing education program within one year of hire date. Can be for LPN or RN.

What we will need:

  • Documentation from your nursing program showing your graduation date.

  • Proof of scheduled NCLEX licensure exam within 90 days of hire.

What we will do:

Our team will provide supervision and training under a licensed nurse to ensure you are comfortable with providing care. Your assigned tasks will not exceed your level of academic preparation or outside the scope of your competency level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet the nursing and rehabilitation needs of each resident.

  • Maintain current resident care plans on all residents under his/her care.

  • Follow physician’s orders. Renders and/or assist with complete nursing care, treatments, dressings, and other physician orders.

  • Transcribe physician’s orders promptly and accurately.

  • Review patient records daily to assure accuracy and completeness.

  • Document comprehensive and complete nursing notes.

  • Visit each resident daily to evaluate resident needs.

  • Maintain accurate awareness of residents on alert list.

  • Document and report any unusual or significant findings; contact the physician when necessary.

  • Administer medication according to procedure.

  • Maintain an accurate and safe control of all drugs for which he/she is responsible.

  • Initiate any and all emergency procedures as necessary.

  • Demonstrate correct safety techniques in accord with orientation and training processes of Athena and your specific job description.

  • Complies with facility Privacy Practices Policies and Procedures and protects residents’ individual health information.

  • Other duties assigned by Director of Nursing and other managerial team members.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.

  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.

  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.

  • Must possess accurate and comprehensive assessment skills.

  • Must be familiar with drug actions and interactions.

  • Must have knowledge of restorative nursing rehabilitation policies and utilizes appropriately.

  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergencies.

Responsibilities of the OR RN include, but are not limited to, circulating and scrubbing in surgical cases, monitoring patients and administering moderate sedation in select cases per Heywood Hospital’s moderate sedation policy. OR RN takes call per operating room rotation as required by the operational needs. All employees with direct patient contact are responsible for actively engaging in the practice of, monitoring and enforcing compliance to hand hygiene. Assesses (and reassesses), plans, implements, and evaluates nursing interventions/plans of care/patient goals. Provides patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures. Respects each patient as an individual; provides care that fosters the patient’s sense of dignity and positive self-regard. Provides patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning. Collaboratively plans and prepares patient/family for discharge incorporating support systems/resources as necessary. Appropriately delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by others. Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions and patient responses according to established standards. Provides timely and thorough report on assigned patients to other health care team members to ensure integration of services and continuity of patient care. Promotes learning for colleagues and self (e.g. functions as preceptor, instructor, trainer, attends professional development programs, etc.). Proactively identifies risk to patient safety and identifies opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors (i.e. appropriate reporting of errors/incidents). Identifies ethical issues in care and develops plan to address. Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician’s orders, protocols, policies and procedures. Assesses patient pain level upon admission and as necessary, depending upon diagnosis utilizing the numerical pain scale. Reassesses effectiveness of pain control and notifies physicians as needed, as well as, documents assessment and patients’ response to medication. Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD. Collaborates with surgeon, anesthesiologist, clinical coordinator and surgical technicians to assure the patients’ well being during surgical intervention. Maintains sterile fields and directs the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments. Identifies patients correctly by checking patient identification bands and consent forms as well as verifying operative procedure and site before taking patients to the operating room. Applies principles of aseptic practice, oversees the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment and instrumentation to all surgical cases. Applies principles of body mechanics and adapts them to various situations during positioning and transfer of patients. Assures that all techniques and practices carried out during the surgical procedure are accurate and reflect standards of perioperative practice. Maintains sponge, needle and instrument counts according to policies and procedures, including notifying the surgeon of the result of the counts. Identifies, labels, cares for and handles all specimens and cultures according to established policy and procedure. Qualifications Qualifications : Current MA RN License required. ACLS upon hire OR must hold an active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire. Recent OR experience required. CNOR preferred. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills required. Must take call per unit rotation.
