Duties and Responsibilities

Assist residents with daily living activities as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), including bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing

Serve meals, assist with feeding, and provide water and nourishment between meals

Support residents with mobility, including ambulating, turning, and positioning

Monitor and document vital signs, weight, intake, and output

Ensure resident comfort and respond promptly to call lights and requests

Report changes in resident condition to the nursing supervisor

Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and resident observations

Uphold resident privacy and dignity in accordance with HIPAA and facility standards

Comply with all federal, state, and facility regulations and guidelines

Stay current through educational opportunities and maintaining CNA certification

Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in accordance with state law

Must be at least 18 years of age

Long term care experience preferred

Current CPR certification required

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and assist residents with physical mobility needs

Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and indicate the resident’s response to the service. Develop & maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility to assure that daily activities can be performed without interruption. Create & maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled activity programs. Recommend to your supervisor the equipment and supply needs of the activity department. Assist in cleaning up activity areas after completing activity functions. Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for resident. Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for the residents. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information & follow facility guidelines in reporting non-compliance with said guidelines & treat residents with dignity at all times.
