This is a benefited, full-time position based at the Shiley Pavilion at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines, working Monday through Friday, typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role may require floating to other sites as needed, and candidates must be flexible with work hours. There are no regular weekend or evening shifts, and the schedule consists of 8-hour shifts.

What You'll Do

  • Assisting with inpatient dermatology visits
  • Front and back office duties
  • Perform patient intakes
  • Scribing for the dermatologist
  • Assisting with diagnostic testing, phototherapy and surgical procedures
  • Completing clerical duties including scheduling patient visits, taking supply inventory and managing medication authorization approvals
  • Float to other sites within the specialty depending upon department needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice.
  • Assisting in preparing patients for examination/procedures
  • Assisting physicians with procedures
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program or a minimum of two years of experience as a Military Corpsman or Medical Assistant Certification
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of previous MA experience in the given department
  • Experience assisting with procedures

  • Epic experience
