Job Purpose:

• In this highly technical, fast-paced, and challenging nursing position, you'll work with multidisciplinary team members to provide our patients the best care. • Registered Nurse (RN) renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.
• Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.

Job Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN Preferred
• Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas
• Current Basic Life Support Certification
• Additional certifications as required by department

Related Work Experience and Other Skills:
• Knowledgeable about hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards and utilizes these when providing nursing care.

• Work experience: Minimum 12 months NICU RN experience or completion of Nurse Residency Program

Exercises independent judgment in providing safe nursing care to the stable neonate, post-partum, and antepartum patient. Provides safe medication administration using the patient's six (6) rights, provide maintenance and management of IV access, must be able to perform POC monitoring and demonstrate safe infection control practices. Supports appropriate positioning, assessment and management of pain and provides emergency resuscitation care to the neonate and post-partum population. Completes appropriate documentation. Maintains accurate and timely entries and notations in patient care records and hospital documents. Ensures that all records and documents meet the standards, goals, and objectives of the post-Partum department and Parkland. Provides direction to nursing and non-nursing personnel. Provides appropriate hand off any time care is relinquished. Participates in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff that support the standards, missions, goals and objectives of the department and Parkland. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experience staff and team members as needed. Serves as Charge Nurse on rotation as necessary. Serves as a preceptor or resource to nursing staff members. Prepares and conducts an educational in-service at least once per year. Identifies ways to improve work process and improve patient and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the post-Partum department and Parkland. May serve on various interdisciplinary committees as assigned. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in nursing practice by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals and actively participating in professional organizations. Maintains State of Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse, plus any additional required licensures/certifications. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Supports breastfeeding by incorporating evidence-based practice that promotes breastfeeding success with the aim to increase rates of breastfeeding initiation, duration and exclusivity.
