Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.2. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.3. Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current. 4. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.5. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):

6. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), State approved Certification required.7. High School Diploma or equivalent

Examines patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine. Notes and communicates patient/resident behavior and changes in mood. Gathers medical supplies. Cleans rooms and bed linens. Checks and records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Answers to patient calls and needs. May aide patients being transported to and from appointments. All other duties, as assigned. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Skills and Abilities: Good collaboration and teamwork skills with the nursing staff. Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Meets all health requirements, as required by law. Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED.
