Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday between 7:30am to 4:30pm

No weekends

No On-Call or Call-Back 

 

Core Duties:

  • Reviews referrals for administrative, clinical completeness and appropriateness. Validates requested medical service, and authorizes surgery/medical procedures, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and general hospital procedures and regulations. Collaborates with TRICARE Regional Office Clinical Liaison Nurse and MTF Liaison to address any process issues or concerns.
  • Schedules referral appointments in accordance with required Access to Care Standards within the direct care system or outside the MTF with network/non-network providers for 90% of all referrals.
  • Provides timely, descriptive feedback regarding utilization review issues.
  • Reviews and enters first right of refusal referrals into CHCS and database within one (1) business day of the date of the referral.
  • Submits referrals to non-network providers to TRICARE Service Center (TSC) for processing.
  • Receives and makes patient telephone calls and computer/written correspondence regarding specialty clinic appointments and referrals.
  • Tracks referral reports; obtain referral results within the required timelines and follow up with as necessary. Documents that paper referral results are properly filed in patient’s health record.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree: Certificate• Education: Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved LPN/LVN training program or completion of equivalent military training that permits sitting for the State licensure examination.

Certification: Possess a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification

• Experience: Current experience requirement is one year in the last two years as a practical or vocational nurse.• Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.

* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist. * Participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Provide training and/or clinical direction as applicable to supporting government employe­es (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students, etc.). * Attend and participate in various meetings as directed. * Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care. * Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, MHS Genesis and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all email and voicemail communications. * Exercise appropriate clinical delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and clinic activities. * Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required. All records and reports must be legible. Abbreviations must be only those listed in local instructions. As an alternative to the education requirements in the basic contract, the HCW may be a graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved LPN/LVN training program OR be a graduate of a nursing program a program accredited by ACEN, OR have completed an equivalent military training program. * Experience: Possess one (1) year of clinical work experience as a full-time LPN/LVN within the preceding three (3) years. * Licensure: Current, unrestricted LPN/LVN license from any state. * Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS Certifications. * Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
