Responsibilities Works in collaboration with physicians to provide complete physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and episodic disorders. Assigned principal responsibility for primary health care of patients under professional medical direction from physicians. Seeks the expert opinion or advice of a physician whenever the incumbent decides a case falls outside the scope authorized by policies and protocol. Plans and implements and a physician reviews and confirms health care goals for patients. Responsible for the patient throughout the course of the treatment, provides the physical examination, the diagnosis, and the health care plan, determines when the patient has recovered, and releases the patient. Refers patients to physicians for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment but retains responsibility for clinical management as well as any subsequent modification. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. Experience: Clinical experience requirements are dependent upon the specific position, and include a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field. Licensure Current applicable state RN license required. National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) required. Applicable state license as a Nurse Practitioner w/Prescriptive Privileges (NP-PP) required. Current certification dependent upon the specific position to include Basic Life Support (CPR) from the American Heart Association. Pay Range USD $57.75 - USD $86.05 /Hr. Our primary care providers are supported by individually assigned MAs as well as care teams that can include panel coordinators, social workers, RN case managers, behavioral health clinicians and a pharmacist. Our clinics support the local communities by providing services to diverse patient populations. Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Clinical Preceptor is a practicing clinician who mentors Nurse Practitioner & Physician Assistants. They provide primary care medical services to the patients of the Center, in accordance with training, experience, and licensure. They will participate as a member of the medical team within the Center. This individual functions as an educational resource to patients, the Center, students, and the Community. This is a temporary, part-time position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Participate in direct patient care, which may include family planning, newborn care, pediatrics, and general adult care. • Meet minimum patient care productivity requirements as may be set by the Center to meet requirements of outside funding and/or reimbursement sources. • Provide continuous, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive health care of the highest quality. • Provide all necessary documentation in the medical record of care provided to patient, including education, medications, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up. • May assist in organizing and participating in special clinics such as the migrant camp program. • Provide day-to day clinical supervision of support staff with respect to individual patient management. • Participate in case management review and discussion as needed. • Assist in implementation of plans to meet the objectives of the annual “Health Plan” and other goals established by the QA/QI committee and the Center’s managed care plans. • Participate in chart audits to assess success of QA/QI program. • Participate in medical staff, OB, QA/QI meetings and other committees within the Center established to improve patient care and the overall operation of the Center. • Provide supervision of students and residents in the health care professions. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). HIPAA Requirements: The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will have access to PHI in the course of carrying out their duties. The provider uses the PHI for treatment purposes and quality assurance operations. Applying the minimum necessary standard of HIPAA, the designated records sets to which this employee will have access include: the demographic and scheduling information in the practice management system, and the full medical record. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred; willingness to become sufficiently competent in Spanish to provide medical care. • Strong commitment to working with patients and staff from a wide range of ethnic, economic, cultural, and social backgrounds. • Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, safe driving record and insurance coverage required. • Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Required: • Completion of a family nurse practitioner or physician assistant training program approved by the State of Oregon. • Licensure by the State of Oregon by the Board of Nursing or the Board of Medical Examiners and DEA registration. • 5 years of experience providing medical services in a primary care setting.
