Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Fertility

Job Summary:

Provide high quality health care to Kaiser Permanente members in a cost effect manner and in accordance with accepted professional practice standards. This Clinician floats to all service areas in the NW Region, works in adult Primary Care covering for other Clinician panels and/or for short term (three months or less) needs in the MOB.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality health care through direct assessment, diagnosis, and formulation/implementation of treatment plan for patients with common acute and chronic illnesses and injuries (may include performing histories and physicals; ordering, interpreting, and following up on diagnostic studies; ordering medications). Perform health maintenance services, including patient education, for well members. Refer patients for specialty consultations or difficult problems. Document in writing all care in patients permanent medical record in accordance with accepted medical/legal standards. Provide all medical care in accordance with accepted practice standards, hospital/clinic protocols (including supervision by a physician), and State licensing guidelines for Oregon & Washington.
  • Coordinate, develop or organize patient or department services or programs. Examples include, but are not limited to: Assist in developing NP/PA Float protocols. Develop written patient education materials. Provide in-service training. Chair or participate on committees such as Breastfeeding Task Force, Regional Controlled substance Abuse Committee, etc. Participate in NP/PA Meeting.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Participate in direct patient care, which may include family planning, newborn care, pediatrics, and general adult care. • Meet minimum patient care productivity requirements as may be set by the Center to meet requirements of outside funding and/or reimbursement sources. • Provide continuous, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive health care of the highest quality. • Provide all necessary documentation in the medical record of care provided to patient, including education, medications, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up. • May assist in organizing and participating in special clinics such as the migrant camp program. • Provide day-to day clinical supervision of support staff with respect to individual patient management. • Participate in case management review and discussion as needed. • Assist in implementation of plans to meet the objectives of the annual “Health Plan” and other goals established by the QA/QI committee and the Center’s managed care plans. • Participate in chart audits to assess success of QA/QI program. • Participate in medical staff, OB, QA/QI meetings and other committees within the Center established to improve patient care and the overall operation of the Center. • Provide supervision of students and residents in the health care professions. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
