The Adult Day Care Program at Amsterdam Nursing Home is hiring a Spanish-Speaking Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) / Recreation Aide for our facility in the heart of New York City.
Hours: Monday - Friday
7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
DUTIES:
Assist with the implementation of recreational activities and programs for Residents, with a focus on individual interests and needs
Work directly with Residents on units and encourage participation in daily activities
Facilitate Resident participation in programming, recreational activities, events, and parties
Assist the Recreation Director and recreation staff with setting up, implementing, and cleaning up programs as needed
Organize and obtain supplies and equipment for activities as requested
Set up program areas and assist recreation staff with activities
Keep daily attendance and document Resident participation in recreational programs
Assist Residents to program locations and safely return them to their appropriate units
Transport Residents within the facility as needed
Report any health concerns or changes in Residents’ condition to the supervising nurse
Set up meal trays and accurately document food and fluid intake
Assist with feeding Residents and serving nutritional supplements
Collaborate with the Recreation Director to create and modify the recreation calendar and coordinate with outside parties for recreational activities
Distribute recreation calendars and communicate program schedules to Residents and staff
Assist with event and party planning and implementation
Maintain confidentiality of all Resident and Facility information
Be familiar with and follow established emergency procedures
Work collaboratively with nursing, recreation, and other facility staff
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Positive attitude and energy is a must!!
Successful completion of a CNA program
Current CNA State Certification
Must be in good standing with the State Registry
Bilingual - English/Spanish required
Experience with activities in a healthcare setting or college coursework in Recreation Therapy preferred
Previous experience working with the geriatric population preferred
Proficient computer skills
Knowledge of APIE (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) preferred
Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask
Ability to work effectively as a team member
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to engage Residents and encourage participation in activities
