The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center is hiring a Full-Time Night Shift Registered Nurse (RN) to join our exceptional 2 East Surgical Joint Unit team.
This role is ideal for an RN who thrives in a fast-paced acute care environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. As a Surgical Joint RN, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from orthopedic, joint replacement, and other surgical procedures. Working alongside an interdisciplinary care team, you will assess, plan, coordinate, and deliver safe, evidence-based care while supporting patients and families through education, recovery, and discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsible for maintaining competencies required for the patient care setting while advancing professional development.
- Provides comprehensive nursing care to post-operative orthopedic and surgical patients, including total joint replacement patients.
- Performs ongoing patient assessments, develops individualized plans of care, and evaluates patient outcomes.
- Administers medications, treatments, and therapies safely in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
- Collaborates with physicians, rehabilitation services, case management, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
- Educates patients and families regarding surgical recovery, pain management, mobility, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates effectiveness as a multidisciplinary team member.
- Utilizes electronic medical record systems to accurately document patient care.
- Participates in team-building efforts and promotes a collaborative, patient-centered environment.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care across the adult patient population.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland or Compact eligibility in accordance with MBON, required.
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care Registered Nurse experience within a Medical Surgical, Orthopedic, or Surgical unit, required.
- Experience caring for post-operative orthopedic and joint replacement patients preferred.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills required.

Compensation
- Pay Range: $42.35 - $57.40 per hour.
