Surgical Technologist at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Mansfield

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Certification as required by state and/or center
Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education: Requirements for Practicing Surgical Technology in the State of Texas (per Texas H.B. 643-Chapter 259): Education/Certification: Has successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical Technologist and holds and maintains certification as a surgical technologist by: a) the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor; b) the National Center for Competency Testing or its successor; c) another surgical technologist certification program approved by the department; OR Has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service. Experience: Main OR - Must have two years of experience in an operating room/healthcare environment or demonstrated proficiency in 6 services. ASC - Must have two years of experience in an operating room/healthcare environment or demonstrated proficiency in 4 services.
