Texas Oncology is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team!  This full-time position will support the Tyler location.   This position will support the Medical Oncology department.

What does the Advanced Practice Provider do? (including but not limited to)

The primary role of the APP is to provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care, in collaboration with practice physicians. The APP impacts quality of patient care and patient outcomes throughout the care continuum. APPs support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

 


Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote/provide staff education
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Advanced Practice Provider position will have the following background and experience: 

 

Nurse Practitioner 

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.  This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years post MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty.  RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

OR

Physician Assistant 

Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.  Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. This position is entry-level and typically requires 0-3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty.  Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.  Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

OR 

Clinical Nurse Specialist 

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years of post-MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.  Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

No Weekends! 3 Pennsylvania locations: Langhorne , Horsham , and Abington 10 Ob/Gyn Physicians and 4 Nurse Practitioners On-site ultrasound, 3D Mammography, and in-house lab work. Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, specialized care to women across the lifespan, focusing on reproductive health, gynecological issues, family planning, and wellness promotion. Practices under the standard procedure established for the Nurse Practitioner role consistent with company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements. Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol. Performs routine physical examinations within scope of practice, including pelvic examinations, breast examinations, PAP tests, and any relevant infection screenings. Performs IUD and Nexplanon insertions/removals , Endometrial Biopsies , works with Pessaries - education & maintenance; may perform Colposcopies . Provides education on women’s issues, preventative care, contraceptive methods, and lifestyle modifications. Orders diagnostic tests and prescribes medications within scope of practice. Provides expert, compassionate care for women during the menopausal transition (perimenopause, Menopause, postmenopausal) by managing symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep issues, educating patients on treatment options (hormonal/non-hormonal), offering lifestyle advice (diet, exercise, supplements), and supporting overall well-being with evidence-based care. Manages prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum visits, screening for pregnancy complications and evaluating physical and mental wellbeing after birth. Confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care. Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy. Consults with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings. Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to ensure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service. Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols. Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families. Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice. Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate people, and documenting events. Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning. Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information. Qualifications: Strong understanding of healthcare principles, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Must be able to work at each practice location as scheduled. Required Education & Experience: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MS, MSN, or DNP); with focus on Women’s Health highly preferred. Board certification in WHNP, FNP, ANP, or similar. Current unrestricted Pennsylvania Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner license, Prescriptive Authority, and DEA. 2 + years’ Women’s Health advanced practice clinician experience .
