POSITION OVERVIEW

Provides direct patient care to medical/surgical/cardiovascular patients needing advanced monitoring. Required to operate advanced medical equipment including use of central lines including A-lines, multiple IV’s balloon pumps, Impella pumps, and patients requiring Ventilation Support, or Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy.  As well as care for general medical and surgical patients on the in-patient unit. Has ability to assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision. Acts as a clinical leader and assists with precepting staff. Provides direct care for patients in the Hospital from admission to discharge in all aspects of care including discharge planning. Gives direction to RN, LPN, CNA, Housekeeping Staff, Dietary Staff. Receives direction from Providers, Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Chief Nursing Officer.

**This opportunity comes with a schedule of 3x12's and nights (7pm-7:30am)

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited RN Degree Nursing Program, required

EXPERIENCE:

  • Practice in and advanced Medical/Surgical Unit and recent Critical Care Nursing including cardiovascular surgery, required.
  • Impella and/or other cardiac balloon pumps and CRRT experience, preferred
  • 1-2 years of Cardiac Surgical ICU experience strongly preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current State of Montana RN Licensure
  • BLS, ACLS required. 
  • Complete PALS courses within 6 months of hire and renewal as required. 
  • EPNC, TNCC certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Advanced Nursing Principles and Procedures. 
  • Use of basic office equipment, use of multiple IV pumps, ability to operate advanced medical equipment, including A-lines, Invasive lines, cardiac balloon pumps Chest tubes, patients requiring

Cardiac ICU RN

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Cardiac ICU Nurse, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital. You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals. Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to go the extra mile for your patients and your strong assessment skills. To further support your nursing career, we offer continuing education opportunities to help you advance your clinical nursing skills. Diagnostic and patient monitoring (detection and recognition of acute changes and escalation or concerns/critical results). Administration and monitoring therapeutic interventions and regimens (starting/maintaining intravenous therapies, administering medication per patients’ rights, preventing falls and skin breakdown and following policies in relation to safety measures). Effective management of rapidly changing situations (identifying, assessing and anticipating needs). Organization and work rule competencies (prioritizing, coordination and meeting multiple patient needs in a timely manner). Helping Role (consistently contribute to a healing environment, providing patient comfort and support for human dignity, serving as a patient advocate and building and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
