RN, Lead Shift Supervisor: FT

Position Summary:

Supervises and coordinates Nursing Services on designated shift.  Serves as consultant for patient care planning and intervention.  Represents Nursing Administration on respective shift.

What You Will Do:

  • Supports and interprets the goals and objectives of the nursing department to the nursing staff and physicians.
  • Utilizes Firelands practice standards and evidence-based practices. Demonstrates critical thinking in assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating essential tasks, duties, and responsibilities.
  • Uses clinical knowledge to assess patients’ needs and to determine placement in collaboration with the nursing unit’s charge nurse and admitting.
  • Serves as an expert consultant to the charge nurse in determining assignment, resolving conflict and resolving complex patient problems.
  • Responsible for staffing adjustments for each shift, including granting of low time.
  • Promotes an effective communication network between nursing units, ancillary departments, and other departments and agencies used as resources for patient care needs.
  • Counsels personnel as need arises and refers documentation to the Nurse Director.
  • Communicates departmental concerns to the appropriate administrative personnel.
  • Functions as Incident Commander for all emergency situations until relived by Senior Management.
  • Functions as a leader for Code Blue and MET teams.
  • Represents Administration on weekends, holidays and during off hours.
  • Communicates to Nursing Administration rationale, progress and evaluation of changes made, problems relating to operations of the hospital, and recommendation for change in administrative policies to carry out objectives of the hospital more efficiently.
  • Obtains supplies and medical records during non-operational hours.
  • Responsible for notifying OR staff or Cath lab in the event of an emergency during off hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Notifies Administrator-on-Call and any ancillary department when a significant event or need occurs.
  • Regularly demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties.
  • Represents FRMC to the community.  Acts as an ambassador and advocate for FRMC.

What You Will Need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Strong clinical skills required.  Three to five (3-5) years relevant experience (medical/surgical, critical care/emergency services), preferred.  Current ACLS required.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
