Job Summary

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join Venice OBGYN, a comprehensive practice with three physicians and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in a beautiful clinic space conveniently attached to Sarasota Memorial – Venice Hospital.

 

Venice Hospital opened in December 2021, located on a 65-acre campus and features a 365,000-square-foot, 5 story hospital with 212 private patient suites, a 61-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites to include a daVinci XI Robot.  The adjoining 2 story, 60,000-square-foot Medical Office Building is where the OB/GYN practice is conveniently located.

The LDRP is equipped with 10 luxury LDRPs, 2 C-Section ORs, and 4 triage beds. The Level I nursery accepts patients who are 35+ weeks with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner on call 24/7.  SMH-Sarasota, located 17 miles North, is the only hospital in Sarasota County providing a Level III NICU

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Obstetric and Gynecologic services in an outpatient and hospital setting.
  • Monday – Friday outpatient practice hours.
  • Rounding on admitted patients on LDRP at the hospital and seeing patients in the practice, and providing physician and/or labor coverage throughout the day depending on need.
  • On call responsibilities 2 nights/week and 1 weekend/month call.
  • Clinic visits include OB Visits (20+weeks), postpartum visits, GYN annual visits, and same day.
  • Order laboratory and diagnostic testing and interpret results.
  • Prescribe, administer, and dispense medications and other treatments.
  • Coordinates treatment and makes appropriate referrals to other health providers as required.
  • Manage patient call backs and communicating results.

  • Graduation from an accredited master’s degree program
  • Current board certification
  • Active or eligibility for licensure by the State of Florida
  • BLS
  • DEA Certificate
  • Experience working as a CNM
  • Ability to work independently

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The APRN III typically work in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc), multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery. An APRN is a registered nurse and therefore can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a registered nurse. In addition, an APRN holds a master’s or doctoral degree. The APRN functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced nursing care to patients within the APRN’s scope of practice.


Required Qualifications

- Require advanced degree from an accredited school or college of nursing* *Must have had a Medicare number in the State of Florida prior to 1/1/03; if not, must have a Master's Degree in nursing in addition to being a Registered Professional Nurse who is authorized by Florida to practice in accordance with state law.
- Require approved APRN board certification**. **Must be certified as a APRN by a recognized national certifying body having established standards for APRN’s. The following organizations are recognized national certifying bodies for the Nurse Practitioner: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Nurses Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses; Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation; Critical Care Certification Corporation; National Commission on Certification; and American Association of Heart Failure Nurses; and the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
