Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Endoscopy Center RN, you will provide specialized nursing care and critical support throughout endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes.

Every day you will expertly assess patients pre-procedure, assist physicians during endoscopy, monitor vital signs and sedation levels, and meticulously provide post-procedure care and education, maintaining a sterile and efficient environment.

To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding clinical skills, strong attention to detail, and a calm, compassionate demeanor, contributing significantly to successful diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for our patients.

 

Delivers professional nursing care to endoscopy center patients during all phases of care; adheres to all applicable policies and procedures, including safety, risk management, and regulatory standards.

 

  • Prepares patients for endoscopic procedure:
    Performs pre-procedure assessment and gathers data relevant to patient procedure to include, review pre-procedure patient information, history, medications, and allergies.
  • Plans care appropriately based on needs identified during initial and on-going assessments.
  • Addresses more complex, urgent, or emergent situations and escalated from other endoscopy center staff.
  • Performs point of care testing (CLIA-Waived Tests only) following established protocols/instructions.
  • Inserts peripheral intravenous catheter per established protocol.
  • Administer pre-procedure medications as ordered by physician; documents medication administration per established procedures.
  • Provides care to the patient and assistance to the physician during the endoscopic procedure:
  • Assists in preparing the procedure room prior to each procedure, including general cleaning, room turn-over, and restocking of supplies.
  • Determines availability of all necessary equipment and supplies; procures unanticipated items needed for team members during the procedure.
  • Serves as an integral member of the time out process and is directly responsible for completing the pre-procedure checklist.
  • Documents procedure and interactions in patient’s electronic medical record in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assures accurate labeling and ordering of pathology specimens obtained during the procedure.
  • Provides care to the patient during the post-procedure/recovery phase:
  • Monitors patient and records vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain level during recovery.
  • Alerts physician of patient’s status and any adverse events.
  • Determines patient appropriateness for discharge from recovery.
  • Provides discharge education to patient and family/caregiver; provides education regarding results, findings, and diagnoses within scope of practice.
  • Identifies opportunities for, and participates in, performance/quality improvement activities to improve endoscopy center outcomes, healthcare delivery systems, and address patient safety/satisfaction and cost containment.
  • Keeps abreast of trends, developments, and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility
Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing and one year of recent related work experience in an acute care setting (i.e. Med/Surg, ICU, PCU, PACU strongly preferred), upon hire or
  • new graduate with completion of a senior practicum in a specialty area (e.g., critical care, ED, PACU, or GI), upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR through the American Heart Association, upon hire and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 30 Days

Specialized care provided in the CICU includes cerebral oximetry monitoring, inhaled nitric oxide, temporary pacemakers, heart failure management, open chest procedures, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Extracorporeal life support represents a highly specialized form of cardiopulmonary support that includes the use of ECMO and ventricular assist devices (VAD). Assesses patient’s needs, consult provider when needed and direct appropriate care Provides occasional on-site care at client-sponsored events such as flu clinics and biometric screenings Participates in quality improvement programs to ensure the practice is performing efficiently and in accordance with Crossover’s policies Demonstrates proficiency in the use of healthcare analytic tools, systems, and analysis Participates in implementation of new health technologies, products, services, and programs that establish the Crossover Medical Group as a recognized thought leader for employer-based health care and lifestyle medicine programs Manages population health programs and clinic outreach initiatives Serves as a resource to other nurses and the care team, and participate in the training and onboarding of new nurses Assists in performing Quality and Compliance checks required on a daily, weekly and monthly basis Contributes to reporting requirements related to incident reporting and compliance Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Minimum 3 years of clinical experience Current Registered Nurse license in the state you are practicing Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) Outpatient care and urgent care experience Knowledge of Apple and Google-based technology or client technologies such as Microsoft or HP Passion for delivering a best-in-class patient care experience in an integrated patient-centered primary care model Creative, flexible and easily adapts to changing priorities Energetic, takes initiative and able to work in a team environment as well as autonomously when needed Embraces new ways of delivering healthcare Physical Job Requirements Requires standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time Includes full range of body motion including potential of handling and lifting patients Requires corrected vision, hearing and speech within normal ranges Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions The base pay range for this position is $52.07 to $68 per hour. Pay range may vary depending on work location, applicable knowledge, skills, and experience. This position will be eligible for 401K.
