The Wound/Ostomy Specialist RN is responsible for achieving standards of care, collaborating with physicians, managers, clinical coordinators and other team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. Responsible for ongoing quality, productivity and efficiency in Wound Ostomy Care Services.
What You'll Do
- Provide coordination for wound/ostomy/continence program, services, resources and standards.
- Assure completion of required credentialing/skills validation and competency testing.
- Assure national WOCN standards of care are implemented.
- Demonstrate advanced practice skills with expertise in clinical decision making and independently incorporating concepts of standards in wound/ostomy/continence.
- Attend training and seminars to maintain clinical expertise.
- Serve as a resource for nurses, physicians and other health care professionals.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Associate's Degree Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience: One year nursing experience required. Two years in clinical nursing, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- RN license in Appropriate State, required.
- Certification in Wound Care and Ostonomy, required OR Completion of Wound/Ostomy Course provided by accredited program which must be completed within 3 years of hire and certification should be achieved within 6 months to 1 year after program is complete.
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
