Overview

Integrate emergency care for individual patients and implement nursing standards in the processes of care.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process in caring for all patients, to include: assessing symptoms, planning interventions, implementing treatment plans, evaluating responses to interventions, and revising plan based on overall effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates the skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the population served.
  • Adheres to the established practice standards and procedures at New London Hospital, in the administration of all medications and in-patient care activities.
  • Documents care provided using hospital standards.
  • Provides education to patients and families based on assessment of learning needs.
  • Follows the Standards of Practice established for the Emergency Services Department.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical practice required. 
  • ED experience preferred.

Overview Our Behavioral Health Emergency Department unit consists of a 6 beds supporting high risk mental health patients during a critical psychiatric event. Our care team’s priority is to provide therapeutic nursing care in a safe and controlled environment to stabilize their illness while developing a healthy care plan. As the primary nurse, you will work with our crisis team, the psychiatric and emergency physician/nursing team, care managers and security staff.
