in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, to a Registered Nurse 1, Grade 18.

Open Competitive NY HELPS qualifications: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate must have Long-Term Care Nursing Experience and Wound Care experience preferred.

Posted salary range ($118,726 - $128,120) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 18, plus a geographic pay differential of $35,000 in addition to $4,1500 of Downstate Adjustment.

Inconvenience pay program of $825 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay. Additional Shift differential of 7% for evening shift and 10% for Night shift.

This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Provides direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, dispensing medication, providing physician-ordered medical treatment, transcribing orders, and collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or culture. Assesses the needs of clients, which can include an assessment of care received, services available, and work environments to identify potential obstacles to success. Handles crisis intervention with clients (psychological, physiological and behavioral). Maintains accurate and detailed reports and records electronically and/or physically as appropriate. May assist in general client care activities, such as meal preparation & distribution and room preparation. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; monitors clients and ensures building security. Performs other job-related duties as assigned OASAS ATC's are Tobacco-Free facilities. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric: possession of a license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State. NOTE: Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment. Additional Comments Background Investigation Requirements: Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
