Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Pediatrics & Young Adults

Join MD Anderson's Pediatrics - Child & Adolescent Center as a Clinical Nurse, Outpatient and provide specialized care to pediatric and adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients receiving treatment for hematologic and oncologic conditions. You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients and families while delivering expert, compassionate care in an outpatient environment at one of the world's leading cancer centers.

The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse is to provide care to pediatric and AYA (adolescent and young adults) hematology/oncology patients. This will include administering chemotherapy, blood products and immunotherapies.

SHIFT: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 6pm x 10 hrs. with a rotating day off during the week and some on-call for weekends and holidays.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree and two years of recent inpatient nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or oncology.

Requirements

Qualifications - External

Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

Experience

Preferred: Two years relevant clinical nursing experience preferably in Pediatrics or Oncology.

All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
