Assistant Nurse Manager – Pain Management - McGrath Outpatient Pavilion SDS (Same Day Surgery)We are seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support the Same Day Surgery teams within the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of procedural services, while upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.
The Assistant Manager - Pain Management supports the efficient daily operations of the procedural department by overseeing staff coordination, resource management, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. They assist the SDS Manager in scheduling, inventory control, and workflow optimization to ensure seamless patient care and timely procedural procedures. This role involves close collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to maintain a sterile, safe, and well-organized operating environment.
The Assistant Manager – Pain Management helps train and mentor procedural staff, monitors performance metrics, and addresses any operational challenges promptly. Strong leadership, communication skills, and a thorough understanding of procedural protocols are essential to effectively support the team and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and service quality.
Directs, advocates, and acts as resource to other members of the nursing and tech team and performs other duties a needed. Promotes compliance and support for policies and participates in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.
- BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Three (3+) or more years of recent PACU or ICU RN experience in an acute care hospital.
- One or more (1+) Year(s) of Perianesthesia Charge experience.
- Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
- Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
- Proven knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
- Proven knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
- Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
- Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or relevant area.
- Relevant specialty certification (e.g. CAPA, CPAN, CCRN).
- Career advances/achievements (e.g. CNIII, Green/Black Belt designation)
- Four (4+) or more years or relevant nursing experience, including at least three (3) years of recent PACU or ICU RN experience in an acute care hospital.
- One (1) year or more of recent supervisory or management experience. Charge nurse experience accepted.
- Experience with Epic EMR.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- This position is non-exempt and eligible for shift differentials.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $136,600 - $267,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $65.42 - $128.16
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
