Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Surgical Support Services, the RN is responsible for the provision of safe and effective care of the perioperative patient.

What you will do in this role:

Completes hospital-wide mandatory education within established deadline. This includes annual Code of Conduct training.
Maintains valid licenses/certifications required for the position. Renews these licenses/certifications such that no lapse occurs.
Successfully completes all unit/department-specific skills competency checklist/tests (including population-specific) and submits to manipulation by the annual performance evaluation date.
75% of department meetings attend, arriving on time and staying for the entire meeting.
Take responsibility for the safety and health of self, patients and others.
Completes annual employee health requirements by established deadline. This would include, but would not be limited to, immunization recommendations established by the CDC, i.e., TB testing/screens, MMR, Varicella, and Tdap. Follows up on needlesticks, exposures and other employee health requirements as directed.
Actively participates in ongoing patient safety goals/processes.
Uses Personal Protective Equipment as directed, thereby preventing incidents.
Disposes of sharps/sharp objects correctly, according to policy, thereby preventing incidents.
Follows infection control directives and policies, including those related to isolation, handwashing and use of gloves, thereby preventing incidents.
Reports all occurrences involving patient/visitor/other employee/self-according to policy.
Utilizes equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Reports malfunctioning equipment according to Hospital policy.
Ensure that work area is clean and free of safety hazards.
Performs in an ethical manner.
Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
Maintains information in a confidential manner.
Refrains from activities that would present a potential conflict of interest and/or reflect poorly on the Hospital/Company.

What qualifications you will need:

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Certificate
(TS-C) Tech in Surgery - Certified, or (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
