Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide patient care under the direction of the RN, using the nursing process, in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Del Sol Medical Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, instruments and supplies needed for surgical cases.

2. Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.

3. Practices, endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.

4. Demonstrates knowledge and respect of the patients right to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality.

5. Communicates and participates in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the Registered Nurse.

6. Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • High School Graduate / GED
  • (TS-C) Tech in Surgery - Certified, or (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist, or (NRST) Nationally Registered Surgical Technician

Qualifications Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Current certification with one of the following: The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. The National Center for Competency Testing or another surgical technologist certification program approved by the Texas Department of State Health Service within 90 days of graduation from accredited surgical technology program.
