Helping Hearts USA LLC is seeking a professional, well-groomed, educated, and experienced male caregiver to support a client overnight. This role is ideal for someone with strong memory care instincts who can provide calm structure, safety supervision, personal care, and companionship while maintaining the client’s dignity and comfort.

The right caregiver will be steady, patient, and confident supporting dementia/Alzheimer’s-related needs such as confusion, nighttime restlessness, anxiety, and sundowning. The client responds positively to music, so candidates who can incorporate music appropriately to promote calm and connection are strongly preferred.

Position Summary

As an overnight caregiver (7p–7a), you will help the client remain safe, comfortable, and supported through the night by providing attentive supervision, personal care support as needed, and dementia-friendly communication. You must remain alert throughout the shift, maintain professional boundaries, and communicate clearly with the office and family when updates are needed.

This is a non-medical role. Caregivers provide support services, reminders, observation, and documentation based on the care plan.

Primary Responsibilities (Detailed)

1) Overnight Safety Supervision

  • Remain alert and attentive throughout the shift

  • Monitor for fall risks, wandering risk, or unsafe behaviors

  • Maintain a safe environment (clear walkways, adequate lighting if needed, appropriate bed/chair safety per care plan)

  • Provide reassurance during nighttime wake-ups and confusion

  • Respond appropriately to client needs, calls, or restlessness

2) Dementia/Alzheimer’s Support

  • Use calm, respectful communication and short, clear cues

  • Provide gentle redirection when confusion, anxiety, or repetitive behaviors occur

  • Support bedtime and overnight routines to reduce distress

  • Assist with nighttime transitions (bathroom, hydration, repositioning) while minimizing disruption

  • Recognize and respond to sundowning symptoms (agitation, fear, restlessness) using de-escalation strategies

3) Personal Care (As Needed Overnight)

  • Assist with toileting and incontinence care per care plan

  • Support hygiene routines (oral care, face/hands, grooming)

  • Assist with dressing/undressing and comfort clothing changes

  • Support safe transfers and mobility (bed to chair, chair to bathroom)

  • Provide repositioning support to promote comfort and skin protection (as applicable)

  • Always protect the client’s privacy, dignity, and independence

4) Companionship and Emotional Support

  • Provide a steady, supportive presence

  • Engage in calming conversation and reassurance when the client is awake

  • Encourage comfort, confidence, and emotional safety

  • Reduce isolation and anxiety through patient presence and respectful support

5) Music-Supported Care (Client Preference)

  • Use music as a calming tool when appropriate (soft, familiar, instrumental or preferred genre)

  • Support relaxation at bedtime or during anxious moments

  • Engage the client with simple music-based interaction (listening, gentle singing, familiar songs) if welcomed

  • Maintain appropriate volume and timing to support sleep and comfort

6) Meal/Snack and Hydration Support

  • Prepare light snacks as appropriate (per dietary guidance/care plan)

  • Encourage hydration and offer fluids at appropriate times

  • Follow safe food handling and cleanliness standards

  • Monitor for appetite changes or swallowing concerns and report appropriately

7) Light Housekeeping Related to Care

  • Keep the client’s immediate area tidy and safe (remove clutter, wipe surfaces as needed)

  • Laundry basics related to client care (as assigned)

  • Clean up after snacks/meals

  • Maintain a safe, calm, organized environment overnight

8) Observation, Documentation, and Communication

  • Document relevant overnight updates per company process/care plan

  • Observe and report changes in behavior, confusion level, sleep patterns, appetite, mobility, mood, or safety risks

  • Communicate concerns promptly to the office/family per protocol

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

9) Transportation (Only If Assigned/Approved)

  • Provide transportation to approved errands/appointments if included in care plan

  • Assist with safe entry/exit from the vehicle as needed

  • Maintain valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle

Required Qualifications

  • Proven caregiving experience (home care, assisted living, memory care, or similar)

  • Ability to provide personal care confidently and respectfully

  • Excellent attendance and punctuality (overnight coverage is essential)

  • Calm demeanor, patience, and strong judgment

You must remain alert during the full shift, provide respectful hands-on support as needed, use dementia-friendly communication techniques, and report any changes appropriately. The ideal candidate will be able to manage: Nighttime confusion Restlessness Sundowning behaviors Anxiety Fall prevention Overnight personal care needs Key Responsibilities Overnight Safety Supervision Remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the entire shift Monitor for fall risks, wandering, or unsafe behaviors Maintain a safe and organized environment Respond promptly to nighttime wake-ups, confusion, or restlessness Provide reassurance and redirection as needed Dementia and Alzheimer’s Support Use calm, respectful, and simple communication Redirect gently during episodes of confusion or anxiety Support bedtime and overnight routines Help reduce agitation and distress using de-escalation techniques Provide a steady, reassuring presence throughout the night Personal Care Assistance Assist with toileting and incontinence care as needed Support dressing, undressing, grooming, and hygiene routines Assist with repositioning, transfers, and mobility Protect the client’s dignity, privacy, and independence at all times Companionship and Emotional Support Offer calm companionship and emotional reassurance Engage the client respectfully if awake during the night Help reduce fear, agitation, or isolation through patient support Music-Supported Care Use soft, familiar, calming music when appropriate Support relaxation during bedtime or anxious moments Engage in simple music-based interaction if welcomed by the client Maintain appropriate volume and timing to promote comfort and rest Meal, Snack, and Hydration Support Prepare light snacks if appropriate Encourage hydration according to the care plan Report appetite changes or swallowing concerns Light Housekeeping Related to Care Keep the client’s immediate environment clean, calm, and safe Complete light laundry related to the client’s care Clean up after snacks or personal care tasks Documentation and Communication Document overnight observations clearly and accurately Report changes in mood, mobility, sleep, confusion, appetite, or safety risks Communicate concerns promptly according to company protocol Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries Transportation Only if assigned and approved within the care plan Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of caregiving experience Experience in home care, assisted living, memory care, or a related setting Ability to provide personal care confidently and respectfully Excellent attendance and punctuality Calm demeanor, patience, and sound judgment Professional appearance and excellent hygiene Reliable transportation Ability to follow directions, care plans, and documentation procedures Must complete all onboarding requirements Strongly Preferred Dementia and Alzheimer’s care experience Experience with sundowning, nighttime agitation, and redirection Musical background or comfort using music therapeutically Experience supporting clients with specialized overnight routines Onboarding Requirements Applicants must be able to provide: Copy of high school diploma or equivalent Valid driver’s license Copy of birth certificate Social Security card Proof of auto insurance, if transportation is required Applicants must also be able to pass: Comprehensive background check Drug screening Reference verification Background review may include a minimum of the past 15 years of history.
