NaphCare is hiring Mental Health Registered Nurses (Psych RNs) to join our healthcare team at Kilby Correctional Facility in Mt. Meigs, Alabama!

💰 Pay Range: $42.30–$44.65/hour + Shift Differential for Evening & Night Shifts🕐 Various Shifts Available: Days | Evenings | Nights | Weekends📅 Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities
As a Mental Health Registered Nurse (Psych RN), you’ll work alongside mental health professionals, medical providers, and correctional staff to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care. You’ll assess and monitor patients’ mental and physical health, administer medications, support behavioral health treatment plans, respond to urgent clinical needs, and help maintain continuity of care throughout a patient’s time in custody.

Responsibilities
As a Mental Health Registered Nurse (Psych RN), you will play an important role in supporting the mental and physical health of our patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Performing mental health screenings, nursing assessments, and ongoing patient evaluations
- Monitoring and documenting changes in patients’ mental status, mood, behavior, and physical health
- Administering prescribed medications, including psychiatric medications, and monitoring patient response
- Recognizing and reporting changes in behavior, mental status, or potential safety concerns
- Supporting individualized behavioral health treatment plans and coordinating care with mental health professionals and medical providers
- Responding to urgent medical and behavioral health needs and assisting with crisis intervention
- Providing patient education regarding medications, treatment recommendations, and ongoing care
- Managing acute and chronic medical conditions in conjunction with behavioral health needs
- Maintaining accurate medical records and documenting treatment, observations, and changes in condition
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare and correctional teams to support safe, effective patient care
- Assisting with discharge/release planning and continuity of care
Qualifications
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications
- Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of Alabama
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
