
RN-Med Surg Float (Full-time, Day shift)
About the Role:
The Registered Nurse Float position in Hoboken is a dynamic nursing role designed to provide flexible and comprehensive patient care across multiple nursing departments. The primary objective is to deliver high-quality nursing services by adapting quickly to different clinical settings, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety. This role requires a nurse who can efficiently assess patient needs, implement care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize health outcomes. The float nurse will be instrumental in filling staffing gaps, responding to fluctuating patient volumes, and maintaining operational efficiency throughout the healthcare facility. Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 year of Med Surg/Telemetry experience in an acute care setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Experience working as a float nurse or in multiple hospital units.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as MediTech.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in various hospital units, including medical-surgical, telemetry, emergency, and intensive care as needed.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications and treatments according to established protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document patient information accurately and timely in electronic health records to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Respond promptly to patient emergencies and changes in condition, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating care when necessary.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions to promote recovery and wellness.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe care environment.
