About this unit

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) is a 24-bed unit featuring all private rooms with telemetry monitoring. We care for patients ranging from age 15 through end of life and serve a diverse patient population with diagnoses including heart failure, respiratory illness, renal failure, and post-cardiac catheterization care.

 

Nurses on this unit provide care for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced assessment, while collaborating closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members. The unit also supports hospice and end-of-life care, allowing nurses to deliver compassionate care throughout every stage of the patient journey.

 

ACLS certification is required within six months of employment.

Scope of work

Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
