Every Day As a School Nurse (RN) You Will

  • Ensure the safety of all students
  • Administer Medication as prescribed
  • Document all medication administrations and all related activities
  • Respond to medical emergencies in the school and provide general first aid as needed

  • Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-4pm [12 month/52 week position]

The Brandywine School offer education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program.A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments.

Devereux’s Approved Private Schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals. A multi-disciplinary team, including the individual’s parent(s) or guardian, regularly reviews the plan to discuss challenges, progress and adjustments to goals as appropriate.

Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing with a B.S.N., Diploma or A.D. Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

EXPERIENCE: One year of post-education nursing experience preferred. Candidates should have experience with individuals with cognitive and/or behavioral challenges or medically complex conditions. Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms. Strong organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.

Valid driver's license must be maintained.
