Clinical Nurse Residency Program - GU/Breast/Hospital Medicine

The Clinical Nurse Resident at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidate will have graduated with their BSN in the past 12 months, passed NCLEX, and completed clinical rotation or a PSNE program at MD Anderson. Candidates must be available to work the Day/Evening shift from 7:00am - 7:00m shift, Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:

Minimum $32.70 - Midpoint $50.48 - Maximum $68.26

Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing would be a plus.

Experience Required: None

Licenses/Certifications Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).

Licenses/Certifications Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.

Job Summary and Qualifications As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. What you will do in this role: Evaluate the patients functional, cognitive, physiological, and psychological condition, including family expectations and perceptions, prior to surgery. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate general nursing care and discharge plans using an interdisciplinary team approach. Administer medications accurately, carry out physician treatment orders, assist with procedures, and follow controlled substance regulations. Observe patient clinical status, document nursing care accurately, and communicate changes in condition through the established chain of command. Adhere to hospital policies, universal precautions, and infection control techniques while participating in clinical performance improvement activities. Plan patient and family teaching, respect privacy and confidentiality, and honor diverse cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual values. What qualifications you will need: Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date) Current BLS and ACLS issued from American Heart Association preferred 1 year of clinical Pre-Op, PAT experience as a licensed RN required.
