Licensed Practical Nurse Job Responsibilities

As an LPN, you will provide direct nursing care to residents in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care environment. You will collaborate with registered nurses (RNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support positive resident outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to residents in accordance with individual care plans.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and within the scope of the LPN license.

  • Monitor resident health, assess changes in condition, and promptly report concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.

  • Complete accurate nursing notes, clinical documentation, and resident medical records.

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, registered nurses, CNAs, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team.

  • Assist with resident assessments, care planning, and discharge planning as appropriate.

  • Follow infection prevention procedures, facility policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Promote resident dignity, comfort, safety, and quality of life.

  • Support coordinated care in a skilled nursing facility (SNF), nursing home, or long-term care setting.

LPN Qualifications

Required:

  • Current, valid Missouri Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

  • Dependability and a commitment to quality resident care.

  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, long-term care facility, rehabilitation center, or post-acute care setting.

  • Experience with medication administration, nursing documentation, resident monitoring, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
