Join Cleveland Clinic Akron General where we have been providing world-class care to the community for over 100 years. We strive for patient-centered care and comfort, and we are committed to serving the community and treating our patients as family.

Akron General’s 52A Surgical Unit is a post-surgical unit that specializes in general surgeries, such as bariatric gastric sleeves, Roux-en-Y, cholecystectomy, thyroidectomy, urostomy, and more. 52A is the primary trauma floor for patients not requiring intensive care, and these are high acuity patients coming from the PACU and ED who require close monitoring and mobilization. Frequent mobilizations have also helped decrease narcotic reliance post-surgery with the help of the surgical Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program, which also significantly reduces patients' length of stay. The 52A team should be prepared for drains, dressing changes, patient mobility and patient pain management.
