Heart Failure ICU (J32) The 10-bed Heart Failure Specialty Care Unit specializes in caring for adults with advanced and complex heart failure, including patients awaiting heart transplantation and those requiring intensive medical management. Nurses provide advanced cardiac therapies, including intravenous vasoactive medications, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and hemodynamic monitoring. The unit also cares for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), and specialized treatment for pulmonary hypertension, including pulmonary artery catheter monitoring and intravenous therapies.
