Job Responsibilities

Delivering high quality nursing care in post-acute care facilities
Observing the conditions of residents and notifying the nursing team of updates
Monitoring and reporting on residents' vital signs
Ensuring a clean and safe environment by performing tasks such as sanitizing surfaces and changing linens
Assisting residents with personal hygiene, feeding, grooming, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
Repositioning residents and transporting them around the facility as needed
Liaising between staff, residents, and family members to support ongoing communication and transparency
Engaging with residents on a regular basis and responding to their needs
Being accountable to follow and adhere to care plans for residents, and all applicable laws, regulations, and policies

Qualifications and Skills

Current Pennsylvania Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Understanding of general nursing care procedures and terminology
Ability to communicate with medical professionals as well as patients/residents and their family members
High level of attention to detail
Lifting requirement of at least 50 lbs

Casual Patient Care Technician/Nursing Student - Neuro ICU (UPMC Presbyterian/4F/5F) Are you looking to establish a fulfilling, hands-on health care career while elevating the patient experience? As a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician with UPMC Presbyterian, you’ll make a meaningful difference on our team by working with our Life Changers to provide high-quality patient care. Nursing Support roles require working rotating shifts, including daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians will also be expected to work 12-hour shifts, with the possibility of a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts. About the Unit: The UPMC Presbyterian Neuro ICU (4F/5F) is a 20-bed critical care unit serving patients with acute neurologic injuries such as strokes, head bleeds and seizures. We also care for post-op patients following craniotomies for tumor, vascular malformation, and decompression. Our staff assist the physician team with many procedures including placement of central lines, arterial lines, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, and ventriculostomy. All hired candidates are required to complete a mandatory training course, with full attendance expected for the entire duration.
