We are looking for Direct Support Professional to join our strong team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and reliable. Direct support professionals (DSPs) are people who work directly with people with physical disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities with the aim of assisting the individual to become integrated into his /her community or the least restrictive environment. A direct support professional is a person who assists an individual with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to the community, assists with activities of daily living if needed, and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. A DSP may provide supports to a person with a disability at home, work, school, church, and other community places. A DSP also acts as an advocate for the disabled individual, in communicating their needs, self-expression and goals. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with daily living skills (e.g., lifting, transferring, toileting, personal hygiene, laundry, meal preparation). Promote appropriate community integration and social interaction (e.g. visiting family, friends, church/temple, etc). Implement outcomes developed through a Support Plan. Complete paperwork as assigned including documentation (e.g., incident reports, outcomes, log entries). Administer and record medications pursuant to State and Agency requirements, where applicable. With valid APD training Medication Administration Fl Code 65 G-7. Accompany residents on medical appointments when needed. Maintain living environment in accordance with D.D.A. regulations and health department standards. Provide Transportation to our consumer as needed. Make oneself available in emergency situations as the need arises. Work cooperatively with professional and paraprofessional staff in the interest of the consumer. Communicate with and update the Supported Living Coah on a regular basis, if applicable. Assist the consumer with recreational, cultural and vacation plans of his/her choice. Provide independent and functional living instructions to the consumers. Complete all state required trainings. Assist with shopping (e.g., food, clothes). Education and Experience : High School Diploma or G.E.D. Required, copy. Must have valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Must be able to work independently. Must have 1 year of experience with Disabled Children/Adult, Nursing Home or Home Care.
