Perform select clinical duties. Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing. Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment. May document the provider's encounter with patients. List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribe patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications. What minimum requirements you’ll need Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Certified or Registered both accepted. Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable. Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols Process referrals and medication refills Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff Why Community? Overview Position Title: Team Lead – Medical Assistant Shift: Full-Time Day Location: IUHMG M-Tipton MOB Clinic Address: 1010 S Main St Suite 200, Tipton, IN 46072 Scheduled hours for this position: 0730-1600 Position Overview: The Team Lead Medical Assistant provides functional guidance and leadership to support staff while performing clinical and administrative duties in accordance with organizational standards. This role ensures smooth clinic operations through coordination of scheduling, training, and inventory management. The Team Lead may oversee inpatient and outpatient consult activities within the assigned location and perform computerized physician order entry when directed by the physician. Key Responsibilities: Provide supervision, guidance, and support to support staff and team members. Perform clinical duties including patient rooming, assisting with procedures, and supporting patient care activities. Coordinate administrative functions such as scheduling, inventory management, and staff training to maintain efficient clinic operations. Oversee inpatient and outpatient consult activities within the assigned location. Perform computerized physician order entry as directed by the physician. Ensure all clinical and administrative tasks comply with organization standards and policies. Qualifications & Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program and/or certification from one of the following organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) American Medical Technologists (RMA) National Health career Association (CCMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA) American Medical Certification Association (CMAC) AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare workers required. Additional advanced life support certifications may be required per department policies. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an MA II or III at IU Health or equivalent. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Basic math skills and accurate data collection and entry skills.
