About the Job: Medical Assistant responsible for participating in the provision of professional nursing care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses, Providers, and Practice Manager. What You’ll Do: Participates in the care of patients in person, via telephone (phone screening) and telehealth modalities under the supervision of the Provider(s), in accordance with professional standards and scope of practice as defined by applicable State laws. Performs functions delegated by Provider(s) and Registered Nurses, including administering prescribed medications, treatments & immunizations, point-of-care testing, and collection /handling of specimens, within the appropriate scope of practice as defined by applicable State laws and regulations. Collects and screens history and health-related information from patients and communicates findings to the Provider(s). Communicates Provider advice/instructions and plan of care to patients. Documents care activities in the medical record including procedures, interventions, patient/family communication, and test results with accuracy and detail. Who You Are: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience of 3 years as an MA. Certifications: Current BLS/CPR training. Location New York, New York Shift: Day (United States of America) Description: Medical Assistant/Technician Medical Surgical - Queens Medical Group /Downtown Flushing - Urology Practice - Bilingual Korean NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups (NYPMG) are part of the physician enterprise of NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic health care delivery systems affiliated with two world-renowned medical schools. Our team of doctors-including leading experts from Weill Cornell Medicine-offer high-quality outpatient services, including urology services and more provide families with high quality, patient-centered care close to home in the New York metropolitan area. In this role, you will: Observe patient’s condition, report abnormal conditions to staff nurse and records appropriate documentation in patient’s records. Measure and record patient height and weight, performs routine vision and hearing examinations, and takes pulse and blood pressure readings. Draw blood from patients and/or performs finger sticks and obtains other specimens as requested by physician or registered nurse. Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures. Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc. This is a full-time day shift position, Monday - Friday (9am - 5pm) located in downtown Flushing. May be required to travel to other Queens Medical Group Locations as needed. Required Criteria: High School diploma or GED Preferred Criteria: Graduate of a State and/or Nationally accredited Medical Associate Program Certification as a Medical Assistant 1 + years of experience as a Medical Assistant preferably in an Internal Medicine practice.
