Vanderbilt Birth Center is a licensed, CABC-accredited freestanding birth center owned by Vanderbilt University Medical Center. We’re in the unique position of being fully integrated within an academic medical center yet have the freedom to truly support physiologic birth in a beautiful, peaceful space. The birth center has been open for 10 years and we have supported over 2900 births! We’re currently seeking a certified nurse-midwife for a 0.75 FTE position at our birth center. We provide care to low-risk clients and their newborns, with an emphasis on personalized, family-centered care planning and intensive education. Midwives are responsible for prenatal, intrapartum, initial newborn, and postpartum care, as well as routine gynecological care and family planning. Our model is evidence-based, and our carefully tracked outcomes reflect a high level of care. Most major forms of insurance (including Medicaid) are accepted at the birth center. We are committed to addressing healthcare inequities and passionate about increasing access to community birth.
